Trout faults Mariners pitchers after wrist hit by pitch
Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout left Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners after a 94 mph fastball from Casey Legumina struck his wrist in the eighth inning. The 11-time All-Star expressed frustration with the Mariners' tendency to work fastballs up and in without sufficient control. X-rays on Trout's wrist came back negative, and Angels manager Kurt Suzuki listed him as day-to-day.
Trout, hit by another pitch Friday from Mariners starter Bryan Woo, told reporters the Mariners know his weakness is fastballs up and in. "If you can't control it up there, you shouldn't do it," Trout said. "It is what it is."
Suzuki, a first-year manager and former catcher, dismissed suggestions of rising tensions between the clubs. "Balls slip," he said. "It's baseball. ... They're trying to get guys out." The Angels rallied for an 8-7 victory in 11 innings at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, on April 5, 2026.
Trout has battled injuries since 2021, playing more than 100 games in a season just twice and reaching 130 games only once, last year. Through 10 games in 2026, he bats .212 with two home runs and three RBI.
