Former Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott announces retirement from NFL

Boston Scott, a 5-foot-6 running back who played collegiately at Louisiana Tech University in Conference USA, announced his retirement from the NFL on November 20, 2024, via a statement on his Instagram account.[1][2]

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Scott in the sixth round (215th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech.[3] Over six seasons with the Eagles from 2018 to 2023, he appeared in 75 games, including 12 starts, rushing for 1,516 yards and 10 touchdowns.[4]

Scott earned the nickname "Giants Killer" for his performances against the New York Giants, most notably rushing for 84 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries in a January 3, 2022, NFC wild-card playoff victory.[4][5]

His last regular-season game came on January 7, 2024, when the Eagles defeated the Giants 27-10 at MetLife Stadium; Scott had two carries for 11 yards.[4] He appeared in Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023, with three carries for the Eagles in a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.[4]

In 2024, Scott joined the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad on August 27 before being released on October 15; he then signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad on October 30 and was released on November 18, without appearing in any regular-season games.[6][7]

Away from the NFL, Scott joined esports organization Dignitas as a content creator in April 2024.[8]
